Best regards,. Vincent Hu. We tried the suggestion, there are no options as mentioned above just acpi and standard pc Tried to chnage them, but it does not work.

Server reboots, integration services tries to change Hal again, but it keeps starting with the virtual server HAL insted of the Hyper-V hal. There is a way to manually replace the HAL. None of the solutions is working, i even tried a repair install of the sbs machine XP doesn't offer the repair option but no go.

Take a xp or SBS machine, no virtualisation services or anything installed. Use disk2vhd to make a vhd, and check the box "prepare for use in virtual pc". If you crete the VHD without the box checked, it works like a charm.

But i have a production SBS server which a;ready running a couple of weeks, so i can't revert back to the original machine to recreate the vhd. You need to use msconfig. In my case, there were two boot entries of my server installation.

The one with disk2vhd at the start was on top. Change it to the normal server boot path and reboot the machine. Now try to install the integration service again reboot and it will work. I experienced the same issue and your fix had me up and running in minutes. I am using Disk2vhd v1. I actually ended up editing the boot. Thank's payne80! I was just testing migrating in an XP SP3 Disk2VHD image to a test Win 8 Pro Hyper-V install - we're finally replacing several XP machines, but peoples' installations are highly customized and will need to have their physical installs converted in this way when the new hardware comes in.

Was seeing the 'install integration services' loop for maybe 30 mins until I stumbled upon this thread Change it to the normal..

Under System Boot, change the selection from "Disk2vhd.. Installed Hyper-V integration services and tried booting from "Normal boot path" and rebooted. Office Office Exchange Server. Not an IT pro?

Resources for IT Professionals. Sign in. But not the other way around….. To change the configuration of a vCPU from two to one for example. You must do it manually. Otherwise it's just wasting of resources. I will choose the driver to install. Reboot the virtual machine. Jason in his post compares then the differences between VMware Workstation and vSphere 4. So, when the migration process is finished and the virtual machine is running, follow these steps to change the HAL from multiprocessor to uniprocessor.

Thanks for pointing that out but in this case the processor type was ACPI and it is possible to change it from multi- to uni-processor according to the options described in the KB I agree with you that is not supported though.
